| Bureau
of Energy efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India
in association with Elcoma has prepared various steps to promote
the most energy efficient LED Lighting. The salient features
are:
- At present LED capsule is not manufactured in India.
Reliance is on imported technology. We must introduce LEDs
in India by partnering of local and International organizations
- LED market in India is negligible at present and therefore
plans are required to be prepared to introduce LED concepts
and applications in India in a systematic way.
- Awareness is lacking and we have to launch an awareness
program through workshops, exhibitions, live demonstration
and media.
- Present cost of LED products is prohibitive. Elcoma members
will join and work together to promote LED products by giving
free demonstration at various locations, thus creating a
demand to ensure reduction of cost in near future.
- Need immediate attention to prepare specifications and
standards to meet the Indian conditions
- Government has an ambitious plan to supply power to all
by year 2012 without any extra burden on existing supply
system. It is therefore very essential to conserve energy
by using the most energy efficient products. LEDs is one
of the most important factor which is being promoted by
Government. It is proposed to use LED luminaires for following
application:
- Secondary Street Lighting
- Down lights in the showrooms
- General Lighting for commercial use
- LED Lamp to replace Incandescent Lamp in domestic
segment
With above in view, Elcoma has prepared to
give a kick start to launch of understanding and awareness of
LED products in India. A National Conclave for Energy Efficient
LED Lighting will be held from 3rd to 5th May 2010 in New Delhi,
India. The conclave will include two days workshop, three days
exhibition and live demonstration in the evening. Besides, on
4th May, an interactive networking will be organized between
the buyers, importers and exporters to finalize deals.
